The climb begins — Naga's Tongue: Learn Thai

How it works

Survive the shore, then climb higher

Survive the shore

Greetings, food, the market, directions, numbers and feelings — the Thai you need in your first week.

Learn the script

Consonants, vowels, tones and numerals, taught in the order that makes them stick rather than alphabetically.

Climb higher

Part II opens the deep river: real conversation, idiom, particles and the irregular spellings nobody warns you about.

The details

What makes it different

Audio on every phrase

Recorded audio for each line, so you hear the tones as well as read them. Thai is a tonal language; a phrasebook alone will not get you there.

Reading, not transliteration

Most beginners stall because they lean on romanisation forever. Here the script is the point, introduced gently from the first chapter.

Built for complete beginners

No prior Thai and no account. Open it and start — progress saves on your device.

A story you want to finish

Vocabulary you are motivated to remember, because the next part of the climb depends on it.

Questions

Before you download

Do I need to know any Thai already?

No. Part I assumes nothing at all — it starts with greetings and the sounds of the language, and introduces the alphabet gradually.

Does it teach me to read Thai script?

Yes, and that is the point of Part I. You learn consonants, vowels, tone marks and Thai numerals rather than relying on romanisation forever.

Is there audio?

Yes. Every phrase has recorded audio so you hear the tones, which matters more in Thai than in most languages.

What does Part II add?

Real conversation, idiom, particles and politeness registers, plus the deeper script — rare consonants, clusters and irregular spellings.

Can I play it without the app?

Part I is free to play in a browser. The iPhone and iPad app adds Part II and keeps your progress on your device.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no ads. Progress is stored on your device.
